Energy Saving

Ok, I live in West Cork and sometimes I need to have some instant heat at this time of year.

Maybe we’ve been out for the day and we need to heat the living room quickly when we get home in the evening or maybe it was a warm day with a cold night?

I always like to consider the environment when I heat the house. I live in a rented house so have no control over the source of central heating which is oil fueled. If it was my house I would have a wood pellet boiler.
I have solar water heating, and while it heats water no matter how little sunshine, there have been few days this spring that it reached maximum temperature. So it needs a little help.

I used to just switch on the oil and forget about it but now I’ve discovered that Eco heat logs are the perfect solution. They are CO2 neutral, excellent value for money and create UNBELIEVEBALE heat!
So next time you need heat quickly, don’t turn on the oil, light some heatlogs

On March 28th, all Kedco employees joined people from around the world and turned their lights off for one hour in a universal effort to show that it is possible to take action on global warming.

Earth Hour begun in Sydney two years ago by the World Wildlife Fund, 2 million people turned off their lights. Last year 50 million people across 35 countries switched off for one hour.

This year in Ireland EirGrid reported a reduction for the hour of 70 MW, enough to power 45,000 homes or 100,000 plasma TVs - in spite of a match at Croke Park!

Earth Hour is the biggest grassroots marketing campaign the world has seen. It relies on people to carry the message. It truly is an open-source model.

The term ‘Earth Hour’ is searched on the web every second.

The target WAS 1,000 cities and 1 billion people.
Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Galway, Belfast and Dublin will mean 6 Irish cities have helped swell the numbers participating to 3934 cities.

The Office of Public work darkened Irish floodlit national monuments - including the Rock of Cashel.

This week I turned my attention to Solar Panels and the reasons for installing a Solar energy system from Kedco.

Yet again, I found the answers to many of the questions that I was pondering, right here on our website in a case study about an installation in Aghada, County Cork.

Like with other products, some of the reasons are borne out of pure practicality while others are driven by respect for the issues facing the global environment.

In this case study, JP & Evelyn Morrissey purchased an Evacuated Tube Solar Energy System and when asked about the key benefits listed “Free hot water” with “no fuel” and “practically no maintenance. When asked why they implemented the system they gave equal weight to economically wise” and “environmentally friendly”.

To answer my question, why purchase your Solar panel system from Kedco in Cork? I couldn’t have put it better myself:

“They knew what they were talking about, have a reputable history of installations, were able to provide us with the option of doing the installation for us, and have a very strong technical back up team, which is very important when installing something that is new to us”

JP & Evelyn Morrissey is one of the many satisfied Kedco solar customers in Cork.

Kedco prides itself on the tailored solar packages, which the company offers its customers. Kedco not only sells a quality product but our prices are extremely competitive, and we ensure all our customers get unrivalled technical support. With solar products, customers not only do there bit for the environment but also achieve huge cost benefits.

Kedco employees and their families are making their vote towards Global warning this Saturday March 28th when they switch off all the lights and electric appliances in their homes between 8.30 – 9.30pm. The Earthwatch Hour has become an annual worldwide effort to highlight harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Kedco is proud to support this initiative because it strongly believes that it is essential that people contribute in this fight against global warming and help preserve the environment, people can make such a difference by reducing their use of non-essential electricity use and conserving energy.

Let’s all come together and help preserve the environment for the generations to come.
